Some of These Fish and Wildlife Legislative Bills Will Be Provocative

Of the first 50 legislative bills listed on the legislature’s website are four related to fish and wildlife.

I’m expecting lots of fish and wildlife bills this session, including some from our governor and new DIFW commissioner.

But for the first time in 30 years, I did not offer any bills, partly because my illness, ALS, makes it very difficult to spend time at the legislature, and most importantly because I am working closely with Governor Mills and Commissioner Camuso to support their initiatives. And of course, I provided them with 4 pages of my own suggestions!

Here are those first four bills:

LD 12, An Act To Authorize a General Fund Bond Issue for the Design and Construction of a New Fish Hatchery and To Improve Hatchery Infrastructure, sponsored by Rep Michael Devin

LD 26, An Act To Provide Complimentary Lifetime Hunting and Fishing Licenses to Retired Game Wardens with 25 Years of Service sponsored by Rep Timothy Theriault

LD 27, An Act To Allow the Use of Crossbows during the Archery Season on Deer, sponsored by Rep Timothy Theriault

LD 33, An Act To Establish a Thanksgiving Youth Turkey Hunting Season, sponsored by Rep Will Tuell
