When I saw the subtitle of Susan Poulin’s book, Finding Your Inner Moose, published by Islandport Press, I wasn’t sure I needed to read it. The subtitle said “Ida Clair’s Guide to Livin’ the Good Life.” And at age 71, I believe I’ve already lived the good life.
Well, when I started reading the book, I loved it. Susan uses the name Ida for the book’s main character. And Ida is a character. She gives lots of advice about how to live a good and healthy life, often comparing us to moose, which she thinks live much better lives than we do. And she’s right!
There is lots of humor in Ida’s advice, and I laughed all the way through the book. Her daughter also offers advice on how to stay physically strong, and her husband offers his thoughts on Ida’s suggestions. Many of her husband’s comments are very funny.
Ida is a “Certified Maine Life Guide” so I guess I should take her advice seriously. Ida covers it all, from relationships to physical fitness to housecleaning to stress to work, shopping, fun, and lots more. All with a great sense of humor. And I did love everything about her village of Mahoosuc Mills, Maine.
So, now I am living Ida’s good life!
