A great friendship between a goose and a goat

Heather Emerson has written some awesome children’s books. One of my favorites is A Goose and his Goat. Heather and her husband Randy have a small Maine home with a bunch of animals. She also works in her local school district as a behavioral health professional and special education health professional.

She says she’s written children’s books “in the hopes of fostering tolerance and encouraging both young and old with hope through uplifting stories.” She has certainly done that with A Goose and his Goat.

After the goose Ed’s brother, Duck Duck, died, Ed was confused and lonely. But then something amazing happened in the form of a close friendship with Cosmo, a goat. They would even defend each other against other animals.

It’s a great story and there are lots of wonderful photos in the book, too.

And as Heather writes, “The Emerson’s learned first-hand that love and friendship can come from unlikely places when there is compassion, patience and tolerance for differences, even if the love is between a goose and his goat.”

A good lesson for all of us.
