Time to express your thoughts on National Monument

Here’s your chance to express your thoughts about how to maximize the economic and other values of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument.

The Monument is a beautiful place, alongside the East Branch of the Penobscot River, one of my favorite places to fish. Local folks have embraced the Monument, and it’s already bringing people to the area and aiding the local economies.

Now, you are invited to share your vision and priorities for the Monument. Here’s the information, provided by the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

Save the dates! The National Park Service is writing a management plan for Katahdin Woods and Waters, and members of the public are invited to share their vision and priorities for protecting the Monument’s ecological, cultural, and recreational resources.

Three upcoming meetings are scheduled for 6:00—8:00 p.m. on June 11 (Maine Outdoor Education Building, Staceyville); June 13 (Jeff’s Catering, Brewer); and June 26 (University of Southern Maine, Portland). We encourage you to attend these meetings!
