Emilie-Noelle Provost has a great imagination and I know you’ll agree with me when you read her new book, The Blue Bottle, published by North Country Press.
From the very scary, ugly, and aggressive ocean eels, who are the bad guys, to Eucla, a wonderful harbor seal, Provost’s characters are very engaging. And the young girl Charlotte, a seventh grader, who is the central character of the book, is beyond brave, challenged to find the ancient and historic blue bottle in order to save her town.
I am amazed that this is Provost’s first novel and can only hope she is already working on her second.
The Blue Bottle was created for young readers, but I was hooked early on and read right through the 131 page book in one evening while waiting for the Red Sox game to start. And I can tell you that the Red Sox game was not nearly as scary as this book!
