Lynn Plourde is my favorite children’s book author. She captured me years ago with A Merry Moosey Christmas in which the reindeer take the night off and moose pull Santa’s sled.
Lynn has written more than 20 kids’ books and her latest, At One In a place called Maine, is a keeper. The illustrations by Leslie Mansmann are particularly entertaining, including the one of twin fawns eating apples off a tree.
I really like the central theme of this book about living in a place (Maine of course!) where you can sit outside and enjoy the seasons, scenery, and wildlife, and be at one with all of it.
“I live in a place called Maine,” Lynn writes in the final pages, describing some of our wonderful places “where nature welcomes all to share its beauty and its space, to touch its heartbeat, to thrive, to breath, to live.”
Me too Lynn, and we are both very lucky!
