Book Features Robert McCloskey’s Amazing Art and Illustrations

I have always loved Robert McCloskey’s children’s books, full of his wonderful art. He produced lots of paintings and other works of art, focused on the many places he lived including Maine, Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean.

In this book, McCloskey – Art and Illustrations, his daughter Jane McCloskey pulls together the wide range of his work, along with discussions of his styles and attitudes about art.

While the discussions are interesting, the art is what captured me and kept me engrossed in the book for a long time. I read through it fairly quickly, and then took a much slower trip through the book, enjoying the paintings and illustrations.

If you are not familiar with Robert McCloskey’s art, you are in for a very special treat. And if you are familiar with the work of this great artist, you will thoroughly enjoy your trip through this book, published by Down East Books.
